About Gorvello Gites

We are Peter and Jenni Clayton. We came to France in 2004 after careers in the contract flooring industry and catering in the UK. We spent several years searching for the right spot and travelled around much of the West Coast of France, finally deciding this region had everything we wanted - the climate, the sea, beaches, a good mix of pretty countryside and fascinating cities (Vannes, Rennes, Nantes) Our youngest son Jake was 2 when we arrived, Sam came along in 2008. Both have been schooled here and are (we think!) a fascinating blend of the 2 cultures. We believe the long search paid off and are proud of our adopted home and happy to share it with you!

Our Environmental Policy

We are committed to doing as much as we possibly can to preserve our precious world for future generations. We recycle as much as we can. While you are with us we urge you to save all glass, packaging, tins and bottle tops. We also have several compost bins for your peelings and vegetable waste. We grow as much food as we can – the fruit in your welcome pack is often from the garden, the eggs always are. We recycle rainwater. We use bio-degradable cleaning products. The gite itself is insulated to a high level to ensure it retains warmth in the winter and is cool in the summer. There are re-usable shopping bags for you use. Although ferry travel is one of the cleanest ways to travel (more so when the new Brittany Ferries LNG ships are operational in 2019) there is still a carbon footprint involved in travelling here. If you are interested in offsetting this footprint we are in discussion with Bradford Environmental Action Trust about their tree planting carbon offsetting scheme, and will happily give you further information. We are passionate about reducing our footprint on earth however we can and would be delighted to talk to you more about it or listen to any ideas or suggestions.
